SUDO

SUDO is a Live act and production team made up of Japanese brothers Isao and Takashi Sudo. Their techno sound is one that they have carefully fomented over the last two decades having first started out playing rock, jazz and new wave. Their true musicianship always shines through to this day – both in their tracks and live shows – and when coupled with early influences like Sven Vath and Underworld, you have a blueprint for their unique techno sound.

Back when this pair first fell in love with the dance, there were no local trance and techno events in the Kansai area, so like anyone with a true punk spirit, they began organising their own. Having visited many such parties around the world they really know how to throw the best events and in 1998 proved this at STUDIO PARTITA in Osaka with a party called “TELEKTONON. ” It was a big success and many more have followed in recent years, though they now go under the BLISSDOM banner and have and expanded across scenes in the Kansai and Tokai areas.

The natural next step for this pair was to begin making their own music, and after buying a Roland-JV1000, that is just what they did. An album of trance leaning sounds soon followed in the form of INDIGO and it proved they knew how to craft proper grooves with real emotion. Headline sets at clubs like Volume and hit releases in the form of “King Beat” all ensued and won them many new fans in the process. Since then, this pair have got more and more into pure techno and as such started working as SUDO. It has seen them play impressive, absorbing live sets that have received a lot of attention since playing at Tenkawa shrine, where famous artists such as Kitaro, Brian Eno and Vangelis have also performed. This experience in turn has fed back into their studio time and has influenced both their performance and production techniques.

After visiting hotspots like Rotterdam, Ibiza and Berlin in 2012, younger brother Isao Sudo decided to move his base to Berlin and has barely stopped making music since. With such a polished main room sound, it wasn’t long before he caught the attention of legendary dance DJ, producer and label boss Dubfire, who signed up their pair for a release on his SCI+TEC label called the Monogram EP. It became a huge hit, was played by top DJs on dance floors all around the world, and led to them getting tapped up for many more new releases. These came on MINUS, Set About, Deeperfect, Scander, Agile, Misfit Music, Night Light Records, Stick Recordings, Selected Records, Dark Face in turn increasing their notoriety in Europe, North and South America, and they were supported by Adam Beyer, Sven Vath, Richie Hawtin, Pan- Pot.

And they have also received plenty of remix offers by people like System 7, Andres Campo, Ken Ishii, Alberto Ruiz, Stiv Hey, Rocksted, FractaLL, Gaga, Mateo!, Oscar Aguilera, and many more artists. Following SUDO’s 2016 live debut with Dubfire SCI+TEC Showcase OFF Week Sonar, touring with Egbert, big success in famous Cacao Beach in Bulgaria, then, many people on the dance music scene have high expectations of Japan’s latest electronic live act, and in 2018 he caught attention of another big name like Nicole Moudaber, Secret Cinema, 2000 and One and signed their MOOD, Gem records, 100%Pure also they are well aware of that and promise to continue to break new ground going forwards.
